Scope and ContentNancy Slater was born in 1918 in Essex. She moved to Maidstone, and became a student in London. A brother was killed in the International Brigade. She joined the Left Book Club. From 1939 she worked as a plotter at the Womens Auxiliary Air Force at Duxford, then worked in a factory making webbing. She was a member of Walthamstow Communist Party. She was a personnel officer at the Royal Ordnance Factory, Aycliffe, Darlington, then at steelworks, Middlesborough. She talks about the Communist Party in World War Two.
