AbstractIt sounds like a scene from the Mexican Revolution, but it was at Cramlington, that, 80 years ago, a group of desperadoes removed a rail and wrecked a train. The men were mineworkers, and the incident took place at the height of the General Strike: their target was a coal train, but they actually bagged the Flying Scotsman.
