Archival historyAdministrative history: In 1861 the Amalgamated Union of Operative Bakers of England was formed. It changed its name to Amalgamated Union of Operative Bakers, Confectioners and Allied Workers of Great Britian and Ireland in 1914. In 1925 it changed its name again to the Amalgamated Union of Operative Bakers, Confectioners and Allied Workers. In 1964 its name was shortened to Bakers Union and later expanded to Bakers, Food and Allied Workers Union. The Bakers, Food and Allied Workers Union still exists today.
